I am a classically trained two-dimensional animator, qualified teacher of Art and practicing comics artist.
I grew up idolising Christopher Reeve's Superman and Adam West's Batman, as a child not knowing that these iconic characters originated in comics. Other than The Beano and The Dandy, I was largely unaware of the medium of comic books until my mother one day bought me my first comic books - Batman and Captain America. Suddenly an entirely new and exciting world of larger-than-life, superpowered heroes and villains was opened up to me and I became entranced. Since the first moment I picked up a pencil, I have always been drawing. Initially I created my own comic stories based upon by my favourite comic strip at that point - Calvin & Hobbes. After reading those first two superhero comic books, however, I began creating my own superhero characters and comic books. Thus began a lifelong fascination (teetering on obsession) with all things comic book related and as my own collection grew and grew, so did my understanding of the medium.
In the years since, my own adventures have seen me travelling across the world and delving into teaching Art both in the UK and Asia. I have also been commissioned by dozens of clients to paint the portraits of their pets (some of which can also be viewed in the Gallery). No matter where in the world I was, however, three things have always remained close at hand: a sketchpad, a pencil and a comic book.
